We would like to
tell you of our experience of volunteering at the Centro Social “Il Formicaio”,
a service dedicated to children which is located in our neighborhood, the
Sestiere of the Maddalena, in Genoa. This area has many problems of
socio-economical and cultural deprivation. At ”Formicaio” children can, after primary
school, meet others playing, doing homework ... and much more, all for free and
with the help of many volunteers who devote a little of their time to these
activities.
Some guys of CEL “Il Laboratorio” are involved in a project for primary school children of our city, aimed at teaching them to work with clay!
The experience, named "CONCRETAMENTE" began in January and ended in May 2014 and is organized on weekly workshops, on Friday morning. For some guys of the Laboratorio, the activity with children is a new experience, a chance to teach someone what they do, a way to be recognized. The workshop provides for the establishment of the laboratory, (also helping those who have difficulties in manual activities), the preparation of the morning- break with some snacks.
