As the
latest mobility in Gijón is finished, the Second Chance School of
Gijón closes the actions planned for this European project. The week
from 18th to 22th of May won't be easily forgotten by E2O. The video
made by "Río de Oro workshop School" will remain these
days in the memory of all the participants. Thank you!
Intense
and highly enriching, these days were chosen to receive a group of 25
students and teachers from 5 partners countries of our project:
Italy, Germany, Latvia, Poland and UK. Volare
project, led by the Second Chance School of Gijón,
aimed to use volunteering as a working tool for young people, aged
between 16 and 25 years old, who has prematurely dropped out of the
education system, and those who pursues reintegration in educational
and/or labour areas.
After
over two years, those days of May gave coverage to the latest
mobility project, culminating the week with a final seminar where,
besides the analysis of the importance of volunteering as a tool for
reintegration in education and the exhibition of the local activities
made by the different partners of the project, the girls and the boys
(proper protagonists of the project) had their own space to explain
their experiences in VOLARE .
The
week was really intense. It was opened with an official reception in
the Town Hall of Gijon, and then we visited the Atlantic Botanical
Garden not only to have a look in their facilities and the excellent
work that Bioma Boreal workshop school is developing there but also
to plant Canadian firs. This activity is directly linked to voluntary
work in its environmental aspect, also it has the added value of
unforgettable memories after the visit in our city.
And
that was just the beginning, we developed one after another all
planned activities: doing group dynamics in The Laboral Art Centre
and Industrial Creation, with different voluntary associations of the
city, visiting the Canino Xanastur Centre to participate in different
activities related with dog training, visiting Noega Lar Residence
for the Elderly with the Entrecanes Association to spend a nice
evening with their residents or visiting El Conceyu de la Mocedá to
be given some information about The European Voluntary Service. This
activities have been some of the most significant in this busy
schedule.
This
activities were done without forgetting the leisure and cultural part
that our city offers: a visit to the Roman Baths Museum, the Asturias
Village and the Bagpipe Museum, as well as the indigenous games with
the El Piles Bowling Group in the Asturias Village bowling alley. All
this activities were joined together with the knowledge of the most
relevant places and landscapes of the city so this important goal of
every mobility was covered.
Finally,
in E2O facilities, some time was also dedicated to the International
Fanzine workshop development, whose final result can also be
displayed in this web page:
