Visitors from four different European countries came to Doncaster College and the Steel City to find out about volunteering!
Throughout the week, the group visited organisations in Doncaster and Sheffield that rely on volunteers, including V4Volunteering charitable organisations, Sheffield Sea Cadets, Heeley City Farm and The Link Community Hub.
Students from each country inspired one another by sharing information about their gracious accomplishments in their home nations.
Amongst other respectable endeavours, students from Germany volunteered their time teaching football. In Latvia, students brought Christmas joy to elderly homes and proved that laugher is the best medicine, volunteering as Clown Therapists at children’s hospitals. Student’s hand-knitted scarves and held food drive pilots within Poland’s communities so homeless people could keep warm in the winter.
Spanish students from seaside Gijon, stated that they were excited to partake in this week’s inspiring activities to learn more from their European neighbours about volunteering.
The collection of students are from different parts of the world, however are in unison with their goals to improve their home nations through charitable acts.

Volunteering is a great experience which allows me to showcase skills in a variety of areas. I am looking forward to the VOLARE project which will give me an opportunity to meet and engage with new people from different countries.”

These gracious globe trotters ended their action-packed week of touring Doncaster and Sheffield with a well-deserved award ceremony on Friday 23rd May at Doncaster College.
